So who are we?

The Book Brook is an independent second-hand book store based in the UK, and our philosophy in life, and business, is simply, to care.

Care about books - We rescue and source books from all manner of places and specialise in taking care of books that people don't know what to do with or are clearing out. Selling what is reasonable, donating some, and recycling those at the end of their life.

Care about customers - Our aim is to get you the books you want, for a reasonable price, exactly as described. To do that we make sure that book blurbs & descriptions are uploaded, the condition is accurate & that we hand package your orders. We will often run discounts for our email subscriber customers, as well as free UK wide delivery once you spend over £10 to help keep the costs as low as possible.

Care about our environment - We believe that us being in business should not affect the environment detrimentally, and, as such are careful about the recyclability of our packaging, our carbon footprint & the suppliers we work with. Don't forget - every time you chose to buy a second-hand book, you are recycling & reusing!

The majority of our stock is pre-loved and so you will come across some general terms we use to describe the condition of our books. 

Please make sure you are really comfortable with these to avoid any disappointment.  If you are looking for a specific edition please get in contact on customerservice@thebookbrook.co.uk and we can check that the item meets your needs.   

As New  -  A book that may be pre-owned, but has never been read. 

Very Good Quality - Minimal creasing to cover or spine and minimal shelf wear.

Good Quality -  The majority of second-hand books fall into this category.  Minor cosmetic damage through user reading or shelf wear. Could have sticker marks or denting to covers.

Well Read -  A well loved copy that may be fairly worn or damaged from previous owners or poor storage. 

Other - These books will have accompanying photographs or specific descriptions. Usually rarer books, antiques or collectables.
