900 Years: Restorations of Westminster Abbey, Cocke Thomas

This Catalogue accompanies the exhibition mounted by the Dean and Chapter of Westminster to commemorate the end of the current programme of restoration, which has taken place over the last three decades.  It records and illustrates past restorations of the Abbey, from its foundation by Edward the Confessor in the mid eleventh century up to the present day.   The reader can here discover the complex story of the religious, political, social and aesthetic priorities of each age and thus bring to life the ever-changing and rich history of the most famous church in the land.
